This strange barrel airplane is the ancestor of modern jet engines

Stipa-Caproni is an Italian experimental aircraft designed by Luigi Stipa and built by Gianni Caproni in 1932. Its barrel-shape fuselage, enclosing the engine and propeller, served as inspiration of the modern jet engines.
