Texas State Railroad Park

So over the weekend, we took a trip to Palestine… that’s Palestine, Texas!!   It’s about 3.5 hour drive from here, closer to Tyler area.  There is a state park which has the ol’ fashioned steam train rides.  So we drove up on Friday night and rode the train rides at Texas State Railroad Park.  We took the departure from Rusk because that one was steam train while the one that left from Palestine was a diesel.

Here’s one with mom and daughter…

Now a family shot.

Anna & JJ on the railroad tracks…

Again, mommy & daughter…

I just love JJ’s motion and expression!!

One more family pic inside as it left!  It’s 1.5 hour ride each way and 1.5 hours for lunch so total of 4.5 hours!

Anna’s Pre-K Graduation

So our precious Anna finally graduated Pre-K school!

We thank God for such a precious child for us to care for and love!

…except that she hated the hat!

And these are Anna’s teachers! Congrats sweetie! Now, onto Kindergarten!

Confessions of a father: #28

So I was playing with the kids after I was done vacuuming.  It was kind of a spontaneous thing.  JJ got on my back from our bed and so I decided to jump onto the bed and let them bounce.  We did this a few times.  But when Anna got on my back after a few times, she bounced more than normal and hit her head on the corner of a shelf next to the bed!!

There was bleeding.  I had to apply pressure to stop it.  At first, I tried to reason myself that it was Anna’s fault for bouncing too much.    Yeah, I know.  That was bad of me.  But then I realized that to truly take responsibility as a parent, you have to stand up for your share (of responsibility).  Though I didn’t throw her at the corner of the merciless shelf, I am the one responsible for playing on the bed to begin with.

She cried quite a bit.    I applied pressure for good half hour and in that time, I kept telling her that daddy was sorry and just comforted her.  Later on when Soojin found out, Soojin asked Anna if daddy yelled at her when she cried, she said no, but daddy stopped the bleeding and told her that he was sorry.

Still…  I feel bad.  And thus ends my confessions.

Anna’s B-Day Gifts and Updates

So we decided to get this for Anna’s birthday with the money from grandparents.

Complete with the umbrella, hat, and boots!!

And this is one of Anna’s latest drawings.  I don’t know… it just struck me ’cause it’s one of her more “complete” drawings.

And finally, the posse pic to end the whole thing!

Anna’s Fifth Birthday!!

Happy fifth birthday sweetie!!    You are now half a decade old!!  You have grown up sooo much… may you grow continuously in Christ…  love, mom & dad.

Two funny things and two funny people

Anna

So after dinner today, we let the kids bike around and we noticed that the clouds were moving rather fast.  So Anna asks the following question to invoke the conversation.

Anna: Why are the clouds moving so fast, daddy?
Me:  They must be in a hurry.
Anna: No… the wind is blowing fast!

I cracked up soooo hard~!!!!

Soojin

I’m playing Ghost Recon: Advanced Warrior online and to some quick enemy presence, I yelled “Holy Crap!”
At first, she thought that crap is not holy… but after some thoughts, she says, “Crap is holy!  … Jesus was human and he pooped… so his crap is holy,… right?!”    I just blasted out laughing!!  Holy crap, indeed!!!

Two funny people that made my day….

Roadtrip to Dallas

It was a wedding of my friend, Erica Quinn. So we drove up to Dallas to celebrate…
With 5 hours of “Are we there yet?” and “What road is this?”, we made it and stayed at Doubletree Hotel near Galleria. Here’s a pic of 3 reasons for my existence.

The kids loved the day. They loved the beds and jumped for good 10 minutes. And the shuttle ride that was provided as well. The reception was at Tower Club on top of the Thanksgiving Tower in downtown Dallas. They were dazzled at the night view across Dallas.

However, the fun ended there for them and soon wanted to go home. So I took out my secret weapon: my Cowon A2 30 GB video/mp3 player. On that 4.3″ screen, they watched their favorite shows… for 2 hours! Even that’s long for them… but thank God they pulled through.

We left “early” at 10:20 pm and eventually went to bed near midnight. Kids were cranky from that Sunday. We went to Irving Bible Church with Mo and then had lunch with Mo and Ricky. I forgot how much they grew. It was near nightmare coming back. Overall, it was good, but boy are we tired… Here’s to a good night’s rest!
