Watch out for 809 area code scams!
February 21st, 2007
I got an e-mail from my manager today about 809 area code scams! Evidently, people call to scam others into calling 809 area code (Dominican Republic) and charges you ridiculous amounts per minute! As AT&T states in the link, always return only calls from familiar numbers and voices!

It’s a hoax.
Specifically, there is no evidence that anyone has ever fallen for the ‘809 scam’ and then complained that their phone bill. It only costs about $.25/minute. You can go to http://www.wherecall.com/809.htm for details.
