Blindsquare is giving guidance systems for the visually disabled a new twist with user-generated Foursquare data, text-to-speech, GPS and some OpenStreetMap mojo. While users are out and about, the app narrates their trip via headphones with information about nearby places, intersections or guidance to their destination. One shake of the iPhone or iPad gives users their current location and a second shake checks them in on Foursquare. The app can also be controlled via a Bluetooth remote while the device sits in a pocket or backpack. Asus is partnering up with start-up BlueStacks, to allow for the running of Android applications straight onto Asus PC computers. The software will come paired with all Zenbooks, Notebooks, Eee PCs, and other Asus desktop computers to allow the use of Android games, utilities, readers, etc right on your PC. To launch the service, Asus will include six months of free apps, but after that, users will be charged an unknown amount for unlimited access.

From Droid Life: Comcast Releases XFINITY TV Player on Android, Watch Thousands of ON Demand Shows From Anywhere
Over the last year or so, Comcast released a couple of XFINITY apps that were nothing more than glorified TV guides or DVR managers. The one feature that would have actually made them useful on a regular basis, ON Demand streaming, was left out. That is until today. Comcast pushed the XFINITY TV Player app to the Play store, giving customers access to all of their favorite shows from anywhere in the world. It works over WiFi or a data connection, and does it flawlessly. I fired up the app for a few minutes and was watching old Eastbound & Down videos within seconds. Thanks, Comcast.

From Engadget: Sony-made Google TV units will come with Plex as standard
Plex has inadvertently announced that its excellent media center software will be baked into Sony’s forthcoming range of Google TV devices. A customized version of its app for the platform arrived on Google Play, declaring that it was only available for download on “late model 2012 Sony internet TVs.” When pressed on the matter, Plex revealed that it’ll arrive pre-installed on the second generation gear, expected to arrive in Europe by September.
