This tool from the Los Angeles Times uses data from the L.A. Department of Building and Safety and the L.A. Country Assessor to highlight buildings in danger of collapse during an earthquake. Officials have identified nearly 13,500 of these “soft-story” buildings around Los Angeles that may be in need of retrofitting to prevent any serious damage or injury. Most of the large apartment buildings are in the San Fernando Valley, but buildings at risk can be found all throughout the county.
