Coffee Cutout

I’ve always enjoyed coffee.  In fact, I’ve even experimented with it when I was like 10 years old!  I mixed cocoa with coffee thinking I had created the something magnificent when in fact, mocha was already in existence!

I’ve also worked with a German professor and a Russian post-doc who make their coffee extra punchy!  However, since starting to work, I’ve gotten used to the thinner coffee.  Still, I drink about 2 cups a day!  So I’ve begun for myself a campaign to cut off the amount.  Starting yesterday, I decided to drink 2x 2/3 cups (= 1 1/3 cups).  After few more weeks, I will just be down to 1 cup a day.  I already try not to drink it when I can, make my body not get used to patterns.

That smell and aroma…  mmm…  you see, I used to drink about 4 cups a week!  However, that was before having kids… and it became just necessity.  As they sleep better, I hope to go back to that…  Here’s to your… um… alertness!  😛

The Difficulty of Parenthood

Well, my boy picked up some kind of virus that seems to have become something similar to croup.  He’s been just coughing up a storm and he hasn’t been able to fall asleep well… let alone stay asleep.  🙁 Cool moist air is what makes that inflamed throat cools down…

He’s finally asleep ’cause I got the windows to open… it will be a bit chilly tonight but we will have to live with it.

Remembering the Cross Country Days…

Back when I was in high school, I ran cross country.  I wasn’t very good but still managed 24 minute 3.1 mile runs.  That’s roughly an 8-minute mile.  However, I weighed only about 130 lbs back then so it was easier.  Now, I weigh swanking 170 lbs and it’s been 16 years later!  😮

As you know, I have started working out again, and today, I got off work earlier than normal at 2:30 pm because I already fulfilled the time for the two weeks.  So I headed off and ran for 3.4 miles in 45 minutes.  Sure that’s twice slower than before, but I am running at the least.  I hope to lose about 10 to 15 pounds over the next several months this year.  Ah the youth… and hopefully by the end of the year, I can cut down my time to sub-10-minute mile speed.  I usually start at 15-minute mile pace and speed up to 10-minute mile pace.   So today’s speed was about 13.x-minute mile…  Oh well, you gotta start somewhere.  😉
