Nintendo Switch Sports, a spiritual successor to the Wii Sports franchise, releases on Switch on April 29. Though it definitely makes sense that Nintendo would return to the world of motion-controlled sports on Switch, no one likely expected the announcement during February’s Nintendo Direct. Nintendo Switch Sports is available to preorder now, with t the digital edition costing $40 and the physical edition going for $50.

If you’re a soccer fan, you may want to opt for the physical edition of Nintendo Switch Sports. The physical edition comes with a leg strap accessory for the Joy-Con controllers that can be used to mimic kicking a ball in a Soccer Shoot-Out.

Nintendo Switch Sports preorder bonus

No preorder bonuses have been announced at this time. Major retailers tend to have exclusive bonus items for a lot of first-party Switch games, so we’ll make sure to update this article if any bonuses are revealed.

Nintendo Switch Sports physical editions are available to preorder at major retailers including Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy. The digital edition of Nintendo Switch Sports–without the leg strap–is available to order from the Switch eShop for $40.

Nintendo Switch Sports will feature six sports at launch: soccer, bowling, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and a sword-fighting game called Chambara. Bowling and tennis were Wii Sports staples, but where’s golf? Thankfully, motion-controlled golf is also returning this fall as a free update. The graphics look a lot different than they did back on the Wii, because ditched the Mii characters with floating hands in favor of more realistic avatars (they are still cartoonish, though).

Nintendo Switch Sports will have local and online multiplayer. But please make sure to wear the Joy-Con wrist straps–we say this fully expecting to see YouTube clips of people chucking their Joy-Con controllers at their nice TVs.

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

This Gamified Rowing Machine Has More Games Than Peloton, Adds Disney/Netflix As Well

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/this-gamified-rowing-machine-has-more-games-than-peloton-adds-disney-netflix-as-well/1100-6501168/

Rowing is one of the more intense, strenuous, and rewarding exercises out there, and to make the experience more bearable and fun, a new company called Aviron created an erg with built-in games.

The connected rower company, which recently raised $18.5 million in funding, has announced that not only does it have more built-in games than, say, Peloton–which just added games–but it is now the first at-home connected rowing machine with integrated apps for Netflix and Disney+. More are coming in Q2.

As for the games, Aviron has 14 “true” video games and hundreds of other “gamified” programs. Some of these involve fighting zombies, escaping from the Kraken, and blasting bugs, among other things. The games are not just about physical exertion, either, as users need to be strategic as well in some.

“What makes our games unique is that they are more than an animated take on a workout program where you achieve points as you hit milestones,” Aviron said. “Our immersive fully animated multiplayer games feature zombies, robots and race cars and require strategy, learning and eventual skill in order to ‘win’. Throughout the workout journey you earn achievements, rank on leaderboards and earn sweat-equity currency that encourages you to work out consistently, with greater intensity and in turn achieve personal goals. This combination of video game elements and the comradery of competition is what makes the Aviron workout experience far more enjoyable.”

Check out Aviron’s website to learn more. The rowers start at $2200 USD.
