Disney has finally confirmed our years-long suspicions: Han Solo is getting his very own Star Wars movie. According to the statement from Lucasfilm, the temporarily titleless movie will release on May 25, 2018, and will center on a young Han and his adventures before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope. Might we get to see Han’s first encounter with Chewbacca?
Also announced today were the film’s writers, Lawrence Kasdan — credited on Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, along with Raiders of the Lost Ark — and his son, Jon Kasdan. Judging by baseless conjecture I’m making up just now that has no basis in reality, this could mean that father-son relationships again play a central role in a Star Wars movie. Â
