Opera has offered up a rebuttal to Microsoft’s claims that their Edge browse is your best bet for extending your laptop’s battery life. Shocker: Opera claims that their battery-saving mode is the true battery savior. Hey, sure, I’ll go with anything that lets me watch ten hours of Netflix in one sitting.
- Opera laid out the exact details of their own tests in a blog post, and also criticized Microsoft’s unclear and opaque methodology. Unsurprisingly, in their own tests Opera lasted 22 percent longer than Edge with their power-saving mode enabled. Sure, okay! - In other news, you can now keep Evernote on your phone a little more private by keeping your notes behind a passcode lock. The feature was previously available to premium users but is now free for everyone. - The a la carte future of online television continues as Viacom launches a BET streaming service for $3.99 a month. The app lets you watch some of the original BET programming and award shows on iOS and Android; there doesn’t appear to be a web option. [The Verge]
